Appointments

As some of you will be aware, we have changed our appointment system several times in the past two years. This has been in order to make every attempt to produce a system that works for the majority of our patients.

You can now book s far as one month ahead to see a doctor or nurse and new appointments are opening up each week. If all of the appointments are gone on any particular day and you feel you cannot wait to be seen then we operate a triage system. You simply have to inform the reception staff that your condition cannot wait; they will ask for brief details of the problem (the doctors have requested this) you will then be called by a health care professional and it will be determined whether you need to be seen on the day or on a different day.

We advise that you read the notice board in the surgery for changes that may be made to the appointment system from time to time. 

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:30am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. Lack of transport is not a valid reason for requesting a home visit

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

Test Results

When your test results have arrived back at the surgery if you require a follow up or further discussion we will contact you.

If you do not hear from us you should assume your results need no further action.

If you feel the need to contact us for results we ask that you leave this until after 1.30pm as this is when the telephone lines are less busy and also enables staff to deal with your request in a more appropriate manner. If you phone in the morning and staff are busy you may be asked to callback due to the demand on the staff in the early part of the day.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
